Certass created schemes include:
- CQ-Assured – a consumer protection scheme checking workmanship against industry standards
- Thermal Rating Register – certifying the thermal performance of windows and doors for Building Regulations
Competent Person Schemes have been set up by the government to provide an alternative to using a Local Authority inspector for certain types home improvements. Members of Competent Person Schemes are able to self-certify and register the work with the local authority for the homeowner.
Since 1st April 2002 all window and door installations must be covered by a Building Regulation Compliance Certificate issued from a member of an authorised Competent Person Scheme or your local authority.
All Certass registered contractors are required to provide an insurance backed guarantee from their chosen provider, to cover their own guarantee, should they cease trading. Glass Rooms use HomePro insurance to protect their clients and give them confidence in their purchase.
Certass has been government approved Competent Person Scheme (CPS) in England and Wales since the 6th April 2006. Certass is independently checked annually by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service)
Deposit, Work in Progress and Warranty Insurance
All member of the TrustMark & Certass schemes are required to offer their customers insurance back guarantees. These Insurance types cover the following:
• deposits taken before work starts
• Work during the period it is being carried out or work currently in progress
• Guarantee provided by the contractor, subject to the terms and conditions of the insurance.
When choosing a tradesman you should always ask to see their recent work from the last 3-4 Months.
